On the coastal road and in the nearby village Ukunda one can buy in well equipped supermarkets all things Europeans need such as personal hygiene items, groceries, fruit and vegetables as well as beverages of all kinds whereby imported spirits are relatively expensive. Fresh meat can be bought in white tiled butcher shops, clothes in numerous boutiques. Shoes according to European standards, however, are only available in Mombasa.

Fresh fruit and vegetables can certainly also be bought from stalls where African women sell their own garden harvest.

For those who not only want to cultivate their privacy, manifold leisure opportunities exist apart from the already described water sports!

The opportunities vary from “Mombasa by night” with a romantic dhow trip into the sunset to a candlelight dinner at Fort Jesus and an inventive excursion for curious people to one of the African homes in the vicinity.

You will find a list with appropriate recommendations on-site in your apartment, and we are more than happy to assist you with the organisation.

If you are not too tired in the evenings, you can visit the disco, the international casino or dine out in one of the many restaurants that are located within a radius of 5 kilometres offering international, Italian, Chinese, Indian or – naturally – native cuisine.
